"I am the type of psychotherapist that shows up authentically me. My hope is to create and sustain a safe place for my clients to feel comfortable and welcome to do the same. I value the therapeutic relationship as the most important part of therapy – my goal is for my clients to feel safe, held, and understood in session with me. I take this goal seriously and am always open to feedback and constructive criticism in order to achieve this goal.
I have pursued therapeutic services in my own self-development and am familiar with the difficulty and importance of connecting with your therapist. To ensure this connection remains at the forefront of our sessions, I will frequently check in with my clients to reflect on our process with one and other - whether that be our first ever session or our last.
In session, I take a humanistic client-centered approach. This means that I place value and belief in my clients as the expert of their lives and go as they flow. I frequently incorporate meditation, mindfulness, and other present-focused strategies into my practice. These strategies are in addition to pulling from a diverse set of modalities, most often from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, parts-work, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), existential and humanistic therapies, and narrative therapy. As always, each treatment plan will be tailored to my individual client’s needs, goals, desires, and interests.
Outside of session, my favourite days are the ones I am connecting with family or friends, spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, or sitting by the water. In fact, I spent last summer at an Ontario lakeside sleepover camp for youth working as their Mental Health Professional. In addition, I love to read and gravitate towards psychology- and spirituality-related books; besides for my professional growth and knowledge, exploring the human experience is something I am passionate about on a personal basis. I love journaling and meeting new people. Hence, you can see how my interests match the psychotherapy field!"
