Practical tools for emotional wellness, grounded in evidence.
What is CBT & DBT?
CBT helps you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns that influence how you feel and act. It’s about identifying what’s not working—and practicing new ways of thinking and responding.
DBT is an extension of CBT that includes emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Originally developed for intense emotional experiences, DBT-informed therapy is now widely used to help clients feel more balanced and in control.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are structured, goal-oriented approaches that focus on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These therapies are especially helpful when you’re looking for tools to manage overwhelming emotions, anxious thinking, or relationship stress.

How much therapy do I need? This is completely up to you and is unique for each person we work with. Some people find that weekly sessions are helpful, others find that coming bi-weekly or monthly visits fit better with their schedule. When coming regularly, most people report noticing change(s) after 8–10 sessions. Some people prefer to go with "lifestyle" counselling, where they pop in when needed. We typically suggest you attend therapy weekly for at least a month, so your therapist can gain an understanding of your life, background, and current challenges. Then, perhaps you switch to bi-weekly for several months. After this time, we will work together to come up with a treatment schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle. However, therapy at Noia Wellness is designed to be personalized. Book a free consultation today to chat more with us.
