IFS & Parts Work in Hamilton, Ontario

You are not broken—there are just parts of you that need care.

What is IFS & Parts Work?

IFS views the mind as made up of parts, each with its own story and purpose. Some parts try to protect us from pain, while others carry unresolved wounds. Therapy helps you build a trusting relationship with these parts so they don’t have to work so hard to keep you safe.

You also have a “core Self”—a calm, wise, compassionate presence that can support and guide your healing.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), or “parts work,” is a gentle, powerful approach to understanding the different voices, emotions, and drives within you. It’s based on the idea that we all have inner parts—like the perfectionist, the inner critic, or the part that wants to shut down—and that healing happens when we get curious about them rather than pushing them away.

  • How much therapy do I need?
This is completely up to you and is unique for each person we work with. Some people find that weekly sessions are helpful, others find that coming bi-weekly or monthly visits fit better with their schedule. When coming regularly, most people report noticing change(s) after 8–10 sessions. Some people prefer to go with "lifestyle" counselling, where they pop in when needed. We typically suggest you attend therapy weekly for at least a month, so your therapist can gain an understanding of your life, background, and current challenges. Then, perhaps you switch to bi-weekly for several months. After this time, we will work together to come up with a treatment schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle. However, therapy at Noia Wellness is designed to be personalized. Book a free consultation today to chat more with us.
  • What's walk & talk therapy?
Walk & Talk Nature Therapy is essentially the same as in-person or virtual therapy, just outside! Please note: walk & talk therapy is only offered to returning clients. If you're a new client and interested in walking, we require an initial session, plus a follow-up session before starting walk & talk therapy.
