What Makes Us Unique

Our Approach to Therapy

Rooted in Nervous System Regulation.

We believe nervous system regulation is key to effective therapy because it helps us understand how our bodies respond to stress and emotions. When life feels overwhelming—like during periods of anxiety or trauma—our nervous system can get out of balance. This may leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, or even physically unwell.

By focusing on nervous system regulation, we can help you recognize and manage these responses through walk and talk nature therapy in Hamilton. Whether you're in Westdale, Corktown, Kirkendall, or the Locke St. area, nature’s calming influence can support your journey to balance. This creates a sense of safety and calm, allowing you to engage more deeply in the therapeutic process. When your nervous system is balanced, it becomes easier to explore your feelings, improve your relationships, and make meaningful changes in

your life.

Guided by Genuine Connection.

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy. Building a genuine connection with your therapist creates a safe space where you can be yourself without judgment. This sense of trust is crucial for exploring your thoughts and feelings openly.

Whether you prefer virtual therapy or in-person walk and talk nature therapy in Hamilton, connecting with a therapist who truly understands is essential. This connection allows for honest conversations about your struggles and challenges, making it easier to work through difficult emotions and patterns.

You want someone who just gets it, and we get that.

  • How much therapy do I need?
This is completely up to you and is unique for each person we work with. Some people find that weekly sessions are helpful, others find that coming bi-weekly or monthly visits fit better with their schedule. When coming regularly, most people report noticing change(s) after 8–10 sessions. Some people prefer to go with "lifestyle" counselling, where they pop in when needed. We typically suggest you attend therapy weekly for at least a month, so your therapist can gain an understanding of your life, background, and current challenges. Then, perhaps you switch to bi-weekly for several months. After this time, we will work together to come up with a treatment schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle. However, therapy at Noia Wellness is designed to be personalized. Book a free consultation today to chat more with us.
  • What's walk & talk therapy?
Walk & Talk Nature Therapy is essentially the same as in-person or virtual therapy, just outside! Please note: walk & talk therapy is only offered to returning clients. If you're a new client and interested in walking, we require an initial session, plus a follow-up session before starting walk & talk therapy. You can read more about Nature-based therapy on our website.
  • Can I use my insurance for therapy sessions at Noia Wellness?
We do not bill directly to insurance companies. You can, however, submit your receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement of some services. Check with your insurance to see if Registered Psychotherapy is covered. If you're interested in Walk & Talk therapy, we also suggest double-checking with your provider to see if "gentle walking, registered psychotherapy" is covered.
  • What is psychotherapy and how can it help me?
Psychotherapy is a form of mental health treatment where a trained professional, a registered psychotherapist, works with individuals to help them understand their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. At Noia Wellness, our focus is on providing a holistic approach to psychotherapy, integrating traditional talk therapy with other psychotherapy treatment interventions. We work with clients to identify patterns and beliefs that may be impacting their mental health, while also incorporating body-based interventions to reduce stress in the nervous system and promote self-awareness. Psychotherapy can help individuals work through a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and nervous system disruption. At Noia Wellness, we believe in providing compassionate and personalized care to help our clients lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
  • Do you offer in-person sessions?
