Emily Rose Grünthal (She/Her)

Founder of Noia Wellness, B.A.Sc., M.Psy. RP, RYT-200

Emily Rose Grünthal is a Registered Psychotherapist, Founder, and Clinical Director of Noia Mental Health & Wellness, a growing psychotherapy practice in Hamilton, Ontario. Her work bridges evidence-based psychotherapy with holistic, nature-based, and mind-body approaches to healing. As a clinician and founder, Emily is passionate about building therapy spaces that feel ethical, warm, clinically grounded, and deeply human.

Through Noia, Emily is creating a model of care that honours the whole person: mind, body, nervous system, relationships, environment, and spirit. Her vision is rooted in the belief that therapy should offer a space where people can feel safe enough to be seen, supported, and guided toward real healing.

Emily’s path into psychotherapy is both professional and personal. Her own journey with anxiety and depression began when she was 13, and learning to navigate the mental health system at a young age became one of the most compelling reasons she chose to pursue this work. Having lived experience with mental health, Emily knows what it can feel like to sit in the client’s chair.

During her undergraduate degree at McMaster University, Emily knew she wanted to work in healthcare, but it took failing first-year chemistry to realise that medical sciences were not quite the path for her. Cue the pivot into psychology. She fell in love with psychological theory, human behaviour, and the many layered ways people come to understand themselves, heal, and grow.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Emily spent time living and working on Cortes Island, British Columbia, an experience that became a turning point in her understanding of healing. Cortes taught her something no classroom could have offered. Surrounded by forest, ocean, beaches, and the deeply spiritual landscape of the island, Emily began to understand healing as something that lives not only in the mind, but also in the body, the nervous system, the natural world, and the spirit. That experience became foundational to the way Emily now bridges Western psychological theory with Eastern wisdom, mindfulness, spirituality, and nature-based healing.

During her master's degree in clinical psychology, Emily’s major research project explored nature therapy and questioned what it is about nature that elicits meaningful change in human health. Her research looked at the ways nature can support people physically, physiologically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and helped deepen her understanding of why so many people feel more regulated, connected, reflective, and alive when they are outside.

Today, Emily’s clinical work often supports people navigating anxiety, burnout, emotion regulation, people-pleasing, perfectionism, trauma, identity exploration, spirituality, life transitions, and feeling disconnected from themselves. Her approach is integrative, relational, and grounded in nervous system regulation, emotion-focused therapy, parts work, CBT, attachment theory, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and holistic care.

Emily completed her Bachelor’s degree in Human Behaviour at McMaster University, minoring in Health, Well-being, and Religion. She went on to complete her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School, while also completing a certificate in Multi-Modality Intervention. Beyond formal education, Emily describes herself as a lifelong learner and continues to pursue training that deepens both her clinical work and leadership. Most recently, Emily has completed training in Walk & Talk Nature Therapy, Presence Psychotherapy, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training. She is a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Between sessions, Emily is a true nature girl at heart. You will often find her on local trails, working away in her backyard garden, or out on the water for a paddle. She is a cat mom of two, as well as a daughter, partner, sister, and friend. She loves thrift shopping, weightlifting, running, yoga, and spending time outside. She is deeply spiritual and passionate about making space for the intuitive, embodied, and often harder-to-measure parts of healing without abandoning clinical integrity.

More than anything, Emily is driven by a mission to make the world feel a little brighter and a little less lonely. She started Noia with the belief that people heal when they feel deeply seen, heard, and valued for their most genuine and authentic expression of self.

"I have a profound belief that shared humanness is what makes healing possible in therapy."
