Accepting new clients (In-person and virtual)

Emily Chatten (She/Her)

Associate Therapist, M.C., Registered Psychotherapist

Many of my clients come to me because they feel their mental health is getting in the way of daily life and relationships and often just don’t feel like they are living the life they want. Together we will explore your past and present thoughts, feelings, and relationships to better understand your unique experience. I can be there to help you build strategies or just to listen – therapy is your time, and you have control in every step of the process.

I truly believe that therapy works when it is a human supporting a human. I greatly value and prioritize being a secure base for my clients through being a strong, supportive other, while also ensuring that I am authentic and real. I often remind my clients that although I am a therapist, I am also just a non-judgement, compassionate, understanding person at my core.

I work mostly from an EFT perspective, while pulling techniques from a variety of modalities such as ACT, CBT, SFT and attachment-based. I work with clients with challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional and nervous system regulation, childhood and intimate partner abuse, challenges in relationships (anxious, avoidant, or disorganized), stress management, and challenges specific to neurodivergent folks (ADHD, ASD). I welcome a diverse range of clients, including but not limited to those from LGBTQ+ communities in both individual and couples work.

A quote I always have in mind when I enter the therapy room is, “This too shall pass.” By considering this, we remember that no challenge or feeling is permanent despite what our minds might tell us. However, it also reminds us to cherish what we have because every day is precious. Going to therapy means you’re committing to working through those tough days, but also aspiring to live every day in alignment with your values.

Outside of sessions, I find fulfilment connecting with friends, family, and pets. I value maintaining important relationships in my life, so spend most of my time doing just that. I can often be found at the local dog park with my fur babies, Mazie and Molson, or visiting my hometown of Peterborough to spend time with family and enjoy some cottage sunshine. My self-care often looks like journaling on my porch, watching horror films, or trying a new craft.

Emily is a Registered Psychotherapist and an Athabasca University graduate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Since graduating 4 years ago, she has worked in a private practice setting, working with a wide range of client demographics and challenges. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Emily worked in several local organizations, developing a deep passion for her community.

It can be hard to find a therapist that fits you, but the search is worth it. Reach out today for a free consultation to see if we’re a good match.
